Transcript - Julia Pickworth speaks about the Procurement and Contract Management Profession [upbeat music] I am Julia Pickworth. I'm the Deputy Secretary of Industry and Commercialisation Group in the Department of Industry Science and Resources, and I am one of the co-Heads of profession for the APS Procurement and Contract Management Profession. The benefit of the profession is that it means as a public service that we are our best selves and that we're collectively delivering for Australia. And if we get the capability and the culture right, that protects us and protects our future selves, but also delivers more outcomes for Australia. For those of us who aren't procurement professionals or contract management professionals, it's great ways to quickly learn things, but also to deeply learn things. So if you do feel a bit like, "Ah, I should know more about that," there's great training, there's great resources. So it's really a public service knitting together and making sure that we've all got the skills and capability and knowledge and contacts and networks that we should have and also want to have. There's lots of ways to get involved. There's a great portal, there's websites, there's training, there's a community of practise. We've got working groups that intersect across lots of parts of the public service. And so the span of what people can do in their career in Procurement and Contract Management in the public service is truly amazing. And so I think part of that's what the profession can do. It's to knit together that and create better pathways for people to be able to have a great career in the public service, in procurement and contract management. [upbeat music] End of transcript
