Transcript - What is the Digital Profession? [upbeat music] Hi, everyone, My name's Chris Fechner, and I'm the Chief Executive of the Digital Transformation Agency, but also head of the Digital Profession. I'm very passionate about the need for Australia to have sufficient digital capability to ensure that governments services can be delivered in the most effective way. Digital transformed government, but it also underpins almost everything that we do. And having the right staff that can actually do all of the work that's necessary for us to deliver great internal services to government as well as deliver great external services is absolutely essential. And it's also very important to meet things like the government's ambitions. If we are going to reduce the amount of contractors and professional services that we are actually using to deliver our capabilities of government to people and businesses, then we need to be able to be sure that we've got the right internal staff that can take up all of those roles. And that doesn't happen overnight. So we need to have a good plan and a strong profession to actually encourage people to both join the Digital Profession, but also extend our capabilities in the space. So the Digital Profession is such a great opportunity for all people working in the Commonwealth. Whether you want to start your career in digital or whether you want to enhance it, the things that we have in the Members' Community Platform, the opportunities for understanding what new jobs are coming through, the ability to learn from your peers, as well as get access to online resources to actually advance your career through things like Career Pathfinder is just such a great opportunity, and I think second to none anywhere in the planet. So take advantage of joining the Digital Profession, engage with the community, and grow your digital career. [upbeat music] End of transcript
